Lauder Institute Alumni Association Board of Directors

Formation Plan


Guiding Principles


  1. To ensure a well rounded board with established responsibilities, members will join the Board with a designated role (e.g., President, Treasurer, Professional Development Chair)

  2. To ensure confidence in the Board and build a redundant safeguard into its formation, the Board will be a combination of Appointed and Elected positions

  3. Appointments

    1. To ensure the Board is led by a distinctive leader with an inspirational vision, the President will be appointed

    2. To ensure the Board is ably positioned to serve its fiduciary responsibilities, the Treasurer will be appointed

    3. To ensure that the Lauder Global Alumni Weekend is set up for success early and deliberately, the LGAW Chairs will be appointed

    4. The Appointment Committee will, at its discretion, be able to appoint a Member at Large from the pool of Board Applicants

    5. Candidates can apply for multiple positions

  4. Elections

    1. To ensure all Lauderites have an opportunity to participate in the Board formation, the remaining board positions will be filled via a general election

    2. Candidates will run for specific positions

    3. Candidates may run for multiple positions

    4. If there is an insufficient number of candidates, the Appointment Committee can make appointments  


Appointment Committee: The appointment committee will be comprised of those outgoing LIAA Board Members who are not seeking a position in the subsequent Board


General Election: All alumni will participate in the general election


Board Positions

  • Appointed:

    1. President

    2. Treasurer

    3. Lauder Global Alumni Weekend Chair or Co-Chairs

    4. Member at Large (Optional)

  • Elected:

    1. Professional Development Chair

    2. Regional Lead and Social Chair

    3. Technology Chair

    4. Development and Sponsorship Chair

    5. Marketing and Communication Chair


Process

  1. The current LIAA president will email the entire alumni body, notifying them of the Board Formation process and inviting individuals to apply for the appointed positions

  2. Applicants will submit an application, including their vision statement and capability related to the position they seek

  3. The outgoing board members who are not applying or planning to run for office will appoint the President, Treasurer, and LGAW Chairs

  4. The current LIAA president will email the entire alumni body, announcing the appointments, and invite all interested alumni to nominate themselves or other alumni to run for the elected positions

  5. The Lauder Alumni community will vote on the remaining positions

  6. The new LIAA president will email the entire alumni body, announcing the election winners and the full board

  7. There will be a transition period of 4 weeks between the outgoing and incoming Board

  8. The new board will assume full responsibility for LIAA
